I use aromatherapy with essential oils daily as part of my pain management routine. I do use prescription pain meds as well, but not as my 1st or only resort. The more I learned about the power of natural plants and herbs with minimal, if any side effects, the more I set out to learn more.
The NIH (nih.gov) notes that oils extracted from herbs can reduce inflammation by regulating the release of inflammatory cytokines. Herbal essential oils like lavender, rosemary, and chamomile are being developed as anti-inflammatory drugs
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a result of a person’s immune system “glitching” & releasing a flood of cytokines. I’ll share more about that internal war at another time..
Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment using natural plant and herbal extracts to promote health and well-being. The side effects are minimal to none in comparison to many pharmaceutical (chemically made) drugs. I will continue to study and use essential oils because I have found them very helpful in my daily regimen. They are great for relieving pain, inflammation, anxiety and other conditions.
